On successful switch; Diego Costa coffers a vote of thanks to Chelsea fans
Having completed a switch back to Atletico Madrid Chelsea AWOL and now former striker Diego Coast has extended his heart felt gratitude to Chelsea fans in an open letter traced to his Facebook page.
The Brazil-born striker expressed his love for Chelsea’s supporters in his farewell message but there was no mention of Blues boss Antonio Conte or the Italian’s coaching staff in Costa’s social media post not surprise to know though considering the saga that ensued between the both parties as well triggered the Brazilian born exit. Despite all Chelsea manager Antonio Conte says he wishes Diego Costa well for the future.
Costa wrote on his Facebook page:
“Some cycles begin while others end. My cycle at Chelsea began three years ago – three remarkable years in all aspects – and I will never forget it.
“Two championship titles, a Community Shield, 120 matches, 59 goals and 24 assists later this cycle has ended. Not the way I would have wanted – far from it – but the best way possible.
“The wonderful fans of such equally admirable club and all team-mates, as well as all clinical, administrative and logistics staff will remain forever in my mind and in my heart.
“Will bring them with me with the certainty that I will always be by their side as well, and I’m sure they will understand the reason why this cycle of mine has now ended – because I could not lose faith in myself. Thank you Chelsea for everything!”
Hmm, what an emotional and difficult way to end such a blissful relationship, Chelsea will indeed miss Diego Costa however Alvaro Morata seems to be filling the void but for how long can he hold on having ignited an impressive start, scoring six goals in six league matches, that is left to be seen.
