Team Nigeria drop in FIFA rankings despite Cameroon win
The Nigeria Super Eagles have dropped in FIFA rankings despite their recent impressive performance against African champions Cameroon in the ongoing Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
In the latest ranking released by the world football governing body FIFA on Thursday, the Eagles dropped to 44th position, six places below their August 2017 FIFA rankings in which they occupied the 38th position.
The Eagles made a marginal progress in the African rankings moving one spot to fifth position, ahead of African champions Cameroon.
Egypt retained their number one spot in the continent, followed by Tunisia, Senegal and Congo DR. Meanwhile Cameroon fell 10 places to number 45 in the world and sixth in Africa.
